The surveillance camera captured the moment of the partial collapse of a five-story residential building, which occurred on the morning of Friday, October 8, in Batumi.

According to the Georgian authorities, at the time of the emergency, from 10 to 15 people could have been in the apartments located in the collapsed entrance, now this information is being specified and verified.

As previously reported , shortly after the incident, two people were rescued - a child sitting in a car parked near the house, which was covered with debris, and a man who escaped with minor injuries.

Initially , a version appeared about household gas, associated with the fact that just before the collapse, eyewitnesses heard a sound like an explosion . Currently, members of the investigation team have denied this information.

As noted by law enforcement officers, the most likely cause of the tragedy is the renovation work on the first floor.

Search and rescue operations are continuing at the scene of the incident.
